Today, Kaspersky offers licensing for these products in two different modalities:
Perpetual license
The customer purchases the license and, along with the purchase, also acquires the right to technical support from Kaspersky itself and maintenance of the licenses (e.g.: free upgrade if a new version of the purchased product is released). This right to support and maintenance, also known as “Term”, can be for 1, 2 or 3 years. After this period, the customer must renew this “Term”, that is, they will pay a lower amount than the purchase and will continue to benefit from access to support and maintenance of the licenses.
SaaS (Software as a Service) or subscription
In this modality, the customer does not purchase the license, but rather pays a fee (annual or monthly) for use of the product. Here, the customer has full access to the product, all its features and also the right to support and maintenance, for the entire time that the subscription is active. Unlike perpetual licensing, in the subscription, if the customer stops paying the monthly or annual fee, the product stops working. Roughly speaking, it works like a “rental”, or something similar to a cable TV service, for example.
